The first “Route Book” International Sailing Race will be held in the South China Sea from Dec. 18-26. Sailboats will set off from Tanmen, Qionghai, and sail around various islands in the South China Sea along historical fishing routes. The sailboats will be modern, but they will be forced to use traditional navigation methods – a compass and a map, just as local fishermen used to sail these seas.

The “Route Book” International Sailing Race will be held yearly, passing on traditional Hainan sailing culture and challenging sailors to use their wits, knowledge, experience, and skills to face the wind and waves of the South China Sea, and continuing to sail the routes of the “Maritime Silk Road”.
