Explore Hainan’s Sizzling Sanya Summer Night Market Guide

The locals know that the best time to come out and enjoy summertime eats in Sanya is after the sun goes down – that’s when the night markets come to life, with streetside stalls selling freshly barbecued skewers, grilled oysters, tasty Hainan noodles, whole fish, fresh-squeezed tropical fruit juice, “fried ice”, and many more local specialties bursting with rich, tropical flavors that will fill you with pure satisfaction. Today, we’ll take you on a guided tour of some of Sanya’s best night markets, so get ready for some good eats after dark in Hainan’s southern city by the sea!

The First Market is located in the heart of downtown Sanya, and in addition to great eats, you’ll also find tons of trinkets, jewelry, bags, and Sanya souvenirs for sale here.

The Dadonghai Night Market is, as you might have guessed, at the Dadonghai Beach area, making it the perfect place to hang out after a relaxing afternoon swim. This is a large night market, with six different sections – A: Seafood BBQ, B: Drinks, C: Taiwan Food Street, D: Jewelry E: Children’s Play Area, F: Seacoast Relaxation

Although Tuanjie St. Night Market is not as large as some of the other night markets, it is packed full of great eats! So if you are looking to get away from the bigger, trendy, touristy spots, this is a great choice for you!

Shangpin Rd. Night Market is located in the historic part of Sanya, where it’s been known as a foodie paradise for many years. Bonus – it’s got great quality for cheaper prices than some of the other night markets!

The Yiheng Night Market is one of the largest night markets in Sanya, and it’s filled with local specialty dishes, snacks, entertainment, and shopping all in one central location!

Jiefang Rd. Walking Street is primarily devoted to Sanya souvenirs like pearls, aloewood incense, hats, carved coconut shells, and more, but you’ll also find plenty to eat as you stroll, so bring your appetite and get ready to shop! The Walking Street is open for business all day and late into the night.

The Haipo Rd. Night Market is in the Sanya Bay area, conveniently close by many popular hotels. You’ll find plenty of Sanya souvenirs here, plus a big seafood BBQ and a karaoke bar!

Looking for a night market in Haitang Bay? Linwang Night Market Plaza has everything you could ask for, stalls with all kinds of local foods, palm trees, and cool evening breezes bringing the salt smell of the sea.

While Sanya Underground Stylish Street isn’t your typical street market, the indoor canal and colorful ceiling covered by a giant screen showing ever changing images, similar to scenes you might find in Macao, give it a unique and memorable feel. Plenty of shops and restaurants line the underground “street”, and you can even take a gondola ride in the canal, so if you are looking for a completely different Sanya “night market” experience, this is the place!
