blob.png Route: Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Forest   >  Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden  >  Haikou Volcano Park

Route Guide: In the morning, take a trip to the “forest on the water” at Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Forest. This is China's first Mangrove Forest Preserve, where you can see amazing mangrove trees growing in the water, migratory birds nesting, and take a boat ride or a stroll along the boardwalk through this unique natural landscape.

For lunch, eat at one of the seafood restaurants at the Mangrove Forest. The seafood is fresh caught, and not expensive.

In the afternoon head out to the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden, which is a safari style zoo where you can ride through secure enclosures featuring lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Here there are also winding paths to hike, with plenty of thrilling zoo animals along the way. Feed the giraffe and pet a white water buffalo!

Still have some time and energy? Don’t miss Haikou’s Volcano Park. The easy climb up the extinct volcano is rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
